Protocol Driven
ChemoCare uses agreed protocols for prescribing meaning that inequalities of care are reduced and consistent standards of care are achieved. “Start up” time is minimised through the provision of over 200 UK and international chemotherapy protocols. Protocols are filtered by diagnosis ensuring appropriate care is offered to patients. Decision points within these protocols ensure that waste and inappropriate treatment is minimised
ChemoCare allows treatment protocols to be electronically transferred from other Cancer Networks. This is of particular benefit in paediatric oncology where sharing of best practice is crucial but also provides the opportunity for the immediate implementation of NICE guidance. The ability to share and transfer protocols also saves the duplication of high value clinical resource in protocol development, maintenance and update.
ChemoCare has been shown to deliver significant reductions in prescribing and prescription errors. Automatic drug calculations, rigorous safety features and the tracking of patients ensures that errors and waste are minimised.
Clinical trial regimes are included within ChemoCare in order that maximum access may be offered to patients. The availability of real time diagnostic data also assists clinicians in their decision as to a patient’s trial eligibility. Outside clinical trials, ChemoCare provides the opportunity to learn new knowledge about treatment sequencing and outcomes as well as the patient’s experience associated with treatments given in real clinical settings.
