Preparation

The Cypro software offers three different kinds of preparation modes: gravimetric, volumetric and partly volumetric. Each preparation mode is based on menu-driven handling which is designed to reduce the workload of technicians by leading them step-by-step through the preparation workflow. The instructions on the screen enable a standardized workflow even with changing staff and ensures a consistent abidance of standard operating procedures within the pharmacy. 

The preparation mode can be chosen as a default or for every single prescription. The standard preparation mode is gravimetric preparation, as it offers a maximum of quality and safety compared with other preparation modes by weighing and controlling every step of the workflow. Cypro guides the user through every step of the preparation and controls the correct execution. This removes the need for a „second pair of eyes” and the supervisor is freed up to do other work. Opened and partially used vials can be used up completely and safely as Cypro prevents preparations with opened vials that have past their expiration dates.

After the preparation is completed, one or more labels are printed automatically. The label contains alongside the patient's name, details on the active ingredient, the expiration date, storage instructions and warning notices. Cypro records both the prescribed quantity and the actual quantity of active ingredients in the ready-to-use product. 

Using the partial volumetric preparation mode only the product vials and the remainder in the opened vials are weighed. The preparation itself is carried out without scale control. The opened vials can be used safely until their expiration dates as the records of remaining medication in the vials is as precise as in the gravimetric preparation mode.

The volumetric preparation mode abstains completely from weighing out. Preparation control is enabled via Cypro´s guidance through the workflow. Complete documentation of used vials and remainders is offered with the volumetric preparation mode.
