COST SAVINGS

One of CIS theriak's main objectives is to enable healthcare providers to reduce their costs while increasing the quality of care. It's products facilitate the management of costs in three main areas

1. Reduction in medication costs

Medication is often the second largest cost item in a hospital. CIS theriak's systems allow users to identify these costs in detail both in absolute terms, as trends or through benchmarking. Linked to this is active decision support tools which allow hospitals to set rules at key decision/cost points to actively manage prescribing behaviour in areas such as infusions, adherence to formulary, excess prescribing etc.

2. Reduced errors

A key driver of CIS theriak's systems is to improve patient safety and to avoid the distress of additional treatment and bed stays that are required to resolve medication errors. An example of the success CIS theriak has achieved in this respect is demonstrated in a study by University College London.

3. Process change

CIS theriak's objective is to work with its clients to improve all aspects of medication management. This might include areas such as discharge and reimbursement where further efficiencies and savings might be realisable.

Across CIS theriak's installations real cost savings have been consistently achievable with reduction in medication spending of between 3% and 14%. The company's philosophy is to approach cost savings in a consultative manner working alongside clinical best practice by way of improvement cycles and setting objectives which can be measured, reported against and then standardised through integration into the software.
